Malte's Special Birth and Our Concerns

In May 2021, our son Malte was born with a special characteristic—he had six toes on each foot. This condition caused us great concern, especially regarding his future mobility. Would he be able to walk and run like other children? After much consideration, we decided to surgically remove the sixth toe on both feet. The operation went well; however, the penultimate toe was removed instead of the outermost one. The result: Malte still has very wide feet, making it difficult to find suitable and comfortable shoes.

Malte's Love for Running and the Search for the Perfect Shoes

Despite this challenge, the most important thing for us is that Malte loves to run. Every day he kicks it into high gear, and we often run together to kindergarten. He enjoys moving around and being active.

A special day was approaching: Malte was set to participate in his first official race—the Gruffalo Run in Dortmund. Naturally, he wore his beloved black Saguaro shoes. Finding these shoes was anything but easy. We searched through every shoe store in the city, but either the shoes didn’t fit, weren’t available in his size, or he simply didn’t like them. For Malte, it was clear: his shoes had to be “raven black,” which turned out to be quite a challenge, especially for children's shoes.

We were thrilled when we finally found the perfect shoes—the comfortable, raven-black Saguaro running shoes. Malte loves these shoes, and as parents, we feel good when he wears them. The “fastest shoes in the world” were freshly polished and ready for the big day.

Why Malte Loves His Saguaro Shoes

Malte wears Kid's Smart I from Saguaro, and although at three years old he doesn’t provide detailed feedback on comfort, we know he loves them. Whenever he has the choice, he reaches for his black Saguaro shoes. For us, this is a clear sign that the shoes are comfortable and that he enjoys wearing them. Malte doesn’t care how expensive the shoes are, what brand they come from, or whether they are the latest trend—comfort is all that matters to him.

As a mother, there are several key points that make Saguaro shoes stand out:

• Comfort: Malte's toes, wide feet, and high arches have plenty of space. He can even wear the shoes without socks without getting pressure points, even in high temperatures.

• Lightweight: The shoes are extremely light and flexible, allowing him to move freely.

• Versatility: The shoes look stylish and sporty, suitable for various occasions—be it sports events, baptisms, weddings, or just playing at the park.

• Easy Care: After a "hard" day at kindergarten, where Malte runs through wet grass, plays in the sand, or climbs on dirt hills, his shoes often look disastrous. But they can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth or in the washing machine. It's especially convenient that the soles are removable, so the shoes dry quickly and are ready for the next day.

• Durability: The shoes have endured an entire summer—from riding the balance bike to using them as brakes. Still, they look almost new.

Small Challenges and Expectations

However, there was a small challenge: it took Malte some time to learn to put on his shoes by himself. The zipper on the elastic was initially difficult for him to operate. It requires more practice and concentration to press the zipper with one hand while pulling the elastic tight with the other than we had anticipated.

Aside from this small detail, the Saguaro shoes have exceeded all our expectations for good children’s footwear—and then some. Malte loves his Saguaro shoes, and we are happy to have found the perfect companions for his adventures.
